Wu Wenhao Attends the "Hydropower in the Interconnected World" Forum

Bali, November 1, 2023 - The "Hydropower in the Interconnected World" forum, organized by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO), was held in Bali, Indonesia, as a significant component of the 2023 World Hydropower Congress. The forum brought together experts, scholars, and leaders in the hydropower industry to share cutting-edge research findings and practical experiences in the field of hydropower, exploring innovative technologies and methods to promote sustainable hydropower development. Representatives from organizations such as GEIDCO, the International Hydropower Association (IHA), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) of the United Nations, State Grid Xin Yuan Corporation, and Sarawak Energy participated in the Forum. Wu Wenhao, Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of IF-CSHE, was invited to attend the forum and delivered a speech.
In his speech, Wu Wenhao shared information regarding China's efforts to promote international cooperation in hydropower projects, particularly in the ASEAN region.
He outlined China's extensive involvement in hydropower project cooperation in ASEAN, with Chinese companies like PowerChina playing a crucial role in constructing over 100 projects in the region, which have a combined installed capacity exceeding 20 gigawatts, significantly contributing to ASEAN's clean energy transition. He summarized the efforts of Chinese enterprises in the development of hydropower in the ASEAN region from the perspectives of infrastructure construction, investment and financing, technology transfer, capacity building, and regional cooperation. These international collaborations reflect China's commitment to supporting sustainable development and energy needs in the region, helping ASEAN countries fully harness the potential of hydropower, address climate change, and achieve sustainable development.
